How To Upload A Video On Youtube

Due to the fact that Google is constantly changing the layout on YouTube, I've gotten many requests from people asking about how to upload videos to their YouTube Channels. So here's a quick screenshot tutorial with step-by-step instructions. With any luck this will be helpful for a while, but the odds are the layout will change again soon. Oh well! For now, here goes.

Go to www.youtube.com and click on Sign In at the top right.

Enter your YouTube account username and password.

This is your home screen. To upload a new video, click on the Upload link on the top right near your username.

This is the screen you'll see next. Click the Upload Video button.

This file selector window will pop up automatically. Use the file selector to select the video file you want to upload from your computer, then click Choose.

Your video will start uploading automatically. While the progress bar shows that your video is uploading, click on video information and privacy settings.

You can make some small changes to the video name and description while the video is still uploading. This is where you can choose options such as the video's title, description and privacy settings. You can choose the following privacy settings: 1) Public, 2) Unlisted, or 3) Private. It will be uploaded under the Public setting by default unless you change it.

When the video is done uploading, you'll see the progress bar change to a check mark. This means you're done. Click the link in the window to take you straight to your new video.

Ta dah! You're now watching your new video. And in case you don't remember what you set the privacy settings to, it shows you in an info bar under the video.

To share the video with friends, you can either copy the URL in the main browser window, or click on Share right under the video. This will give you a short link to share. Click on the short link box, then copy the link.
